Travelers can choose to enroll in one of the Global Travel Protection plans, which we offer because many insurance policies do not provide adequate coverage for people traveling abroad. Designed specifically with EF travelers in mind, these affordable plans provide both pre-departure and on-program benefits for circumstances that occur on an individualized basis, including medical expense coverage that may apply on your program, and program cancellation for the stated reasons below.
See below for coverage details for both plans.
Program Cancellation coverage
The Global Travel Protection Plan provides a refund of all money paid to EF less all Non-Refundable Fees if a traveler needs to cancel from a program due to reasons of serious injury or illness requiring hospitalization, financial hardship due to unexpected job loss, jury duty, military call to active duty or severe damage to home.
The Global Travel Protection Plus Plan provides a refund of all money paid to EF less all Non-Refundable Fees if a traveler needs to cancel their program for any reason up until 24 hours prior to departure.
Program Interruption coverage Both plans include additional coverage if a traveler needs to depart after the scheduled departure date or return early from their program due to reasons of serious injury or illness requiring hospitalization.
Illness and Accident coverage Both plans help protect against medical expenses incurred while traveling, such as hospital bills, doctors’ fees and medical transportation for illnesses or injury while abroad, as well as travel and accommodation expenses for a family member to be with the traveler while hospitalized in the event of a life-threatening illness.
Baggage and Property coverage Both plans include coverage for baggage, airline tickets, travel documents and valuable property in cases of theft or delay.
Flight Delay coverage Both plans include coverage for expenses due to flight delays (lodging, food, and other reasonable expenses) as well as limited coverage for every full land day missed of your program due to flight delays or cancellations.
Emergency evacuation coverage
In addition to our COVID Care Promise, which supports travelers in the case that they contract COVID abroad, both plans include coverage that can provide a benefit in the unlikely event a traveler should need to return home unexpectedly due to a natural disaster or unrest.
