Professor Comeau's students explored the heritage of Classical architecture and its importance and use in the Western World. The course included pre-departure slide lectures and readings paired with an EF College Study Tour to Italy and Greece, where students got a firsthand look at historic monuments and sites they had studied, including the Acropolis and Ephesus. Coursework included a sketch journal and travel journal notes.

Professor Gracianette's course offers students a chance to research international business topics in person. He teamed up with David McNamee, chair of the Undergraduate Business Department, to bring eight business students to China on a 12-day EF College Study Tour. Coursework included a team project to write a country analysis of China from an international business perspective as well as individual essays and journal entries, paying close attention to cultural differences and cross-cultural communication.

Course: HUMN 2450 & 2550 Supervised Studies in Humanities/Study Abroad
Region: Central/Germanic Europe

Professor Watkins runs a short-term study abroad program that allows students to earn credit by taking a study tour and completing associated coursework. Goals include understanding the impact of globalization and comparing and contrasting cultural differences between the U.S. and the destinations the group visits. Students create pre- and post-departure reports as well as 'contact reports' detailing conversations they have with the locals.

Name: Dr. Jan Jenkins

Course: History 4992/Studies Abroad: Spain and Morocco
Region: France, Spain & Beyond

Professor Jenkins' class studied European history as a context for traveling abroad. Students prepared for their tour by reading and reviewing two books about Spain. They traveled together to Costa del Sol, Gibraltar, Seville, Granada, Toledo, Madrid and Morocco. Students each turned in a travel diary containing daily reports of what they had seen and experienced on their EF College Study Tour once they returned home.

College Study Tour: Customized Mexico Archaeology and History
Course: Archaeology of Mexico and Central America

These professors made their 15-day tour an optional add-on to the course they co-taught. At the end of the regular course, most of the students chose to take the trip. The group started by visiting important archeological sites in Central Mexico and worked their way east to the Yucatán, experiencing many of the places they had studied in class.

Course: ARCH 351 Archaeology of Egypt
Region: Middle East & Africa

Professor Copland's course on the archaeology of ancient Egypt focuses on the latest discoveries from archaeological sites that the class then visits on a 13-day tour to Egypt. Students complete required reading before the group departs and participate in on-site discussions integrating what they have read with what they are seeing. The group's itinerary includes excursions to the Great Pyramids, the Valley of the Kings, ancient Thebes and Alexandria.
